Fleetwood Daniel joined the Royal Flying Corps in July 1917 and obtained his commission in October. He was killed in December of the same year while flying at Chattis Hill Aerodrome in England, and was buried with full military honours at Tidworth Military Cemetery. He is commemorated in his parish church, Bloor Street Presbyterian, now Bloor Street United, along with his fellow parishioners Herbert Cumming and Wilfrid Tait, both UTS boys and airmen, as well as John McLaren and Francis Morton, also UTS alumni. “They feared not Death and meeting it they won the Victor’s Crown.”
